This Charleston styled home is located in an older, established, historic residential district. On the main level, the living room, dining room and kitchen / breakfast room open to a veranda that faces a side yard and garden. The second floor master bedroom suite overlooks a garden below. Designing a house to fit comfortably in an older established neighborhood requires an appreciation for the existing homes in the neighborhood. The architecture  of the new house does not have to mimic the style of the existing homes, but the house should respect the architectural character of the neighborhood.
